After kidnapping a youth named Arshad in Mohalla Aarela of Dataganj town of Badaun on Tuesday night, 15-20 people tied him to a pole and beat him, calling him a thief. The accused continued beating him even in front of the police who arrived on information. Later, he was dragged and put in a police vehicle.
The police took action against the attackers only after the SSP showed strictness after the video of the incident went viral. Lalla Babu, Jamil and Zulfkar were arrested in the case. Police investigation has revealed that Arshad was beaten because his younger brother had married a girl for love.
Irshad Hussain said that his brother Arshad had gone to Durga Devi temple at around 11 pm on Tuesday night. During this time some people kidnapped him. He was held hostage in a house for a long time. He was stripped of his clothes and tied to a pole and beaten. Hearing his screams, the people of the locality informed the police.
